Getting the apps and your devices
Written for sales agents. Where to download the recorder for your computer or your phone, what signing in does, and how to deal with a device you no longer have.
Where it is
Get the apps
Available to everybody signed in, so you do not have to wait for somebody to email you an installer. It shows the current version of each recorder.
Which one you need
| You make calls from | Install | Requires |
|---|---|---|
| A Windows computer | The desktop app | Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit |
| An Android phone | The Android app | Android 11 or later |
| Both | Both — one account covers one computer and one phone | — |
| A Mac | Nothing yet | A Mac build is planned but not released |
| An iPhone | Nothing — not possible | iOS gives no app access to call audio |
Installing both is normal if you call from both. Each call arrives labelled with which device recorded it, so nothing gets confused.
Full instructions: the desktop app and the Android app.
Signing in
Use the email and password for your Qualitify account. If you were invited and have never set a password, use the link in your invitation first — that is the only way a password gets set, and nobody at your company has one for you.
You stay signed in. The recorder keeps working across restarts and does not ask again every morning.
On the desktop there are two sign-ins
One is your Qualitify account, which is who the calls belong to. The other is WhatsApp Web inside the app, which you scan with your phone exactly as you would at web.whatsapp.com. Both are needed, and the WhatsApp one occasionally needs scanning again when the session drops.
One computer and one phone
You can be signed in on one computer and one phone at the same time. Signing in on a second computer is refused until the first session ends.
This is deliberate rather than a licence restriction: it means there is always a clear answer to which devices are recording as you, which matters when one of them is not in your possession any more.
- Switching computers
- End the session on the old one — from the old machine if you have it, or from your dashboard if you do not — then sign in on the new one.
- A new phone
- End the session on the old handset, then install and sign in on the new one. Grant the permissions again; a new phone starts from nothing.
- A lost phone
- End that session straight away. It stops the recorder on the device immediately.
Ending a session
- Open your dashboard and find your devices.
- End the session on the device you no longer want recording.
- The recorder on it stops collecting. Nothing further is captured.
- Sign in on the replacement device as normal.
Your company owner can also end a session for you, which is the route when you have no access to the dashboard at all.
What happens to recordings on a lost device
Anything already uploaded is in your account and unaffected. Anything recorded but not yet uploaded is still on the device and goes with it — which is the honest answer, and the reason to keep a work phone online rather than letting a week of calls queue up on it.
Updates
- Install a new version over the old one. Nothing needs uninstalling first.
- Recordings waiting to upload survive an update.
- On Android, check the app’s setup screen afterwards — system updates sometimes revoke the accessibility permission that recording depends on.
- If a new version appears on Get the apps, it is worth taking: detection changes when WhatsApp changes its interface.
What the recorder does while you work
You do not start or stop anything
It notices a call being answered, records it, and sends it when there is a network. There is no button, and there is nothing to remember.
You can always tell it is running
A permanent notification on the phone, a visible indicator during a call on the desktop. There is no hidden mode and no setting that creates one. If you cannot see the indicator during a call, nothing is being recorded — and that is worth reporting rather than ignoring.
Telling the customer
If your company has switched the reminder on, the desktop app can type a disclosure sentence into the conversation for you. It never sends it — you read it and press Enter. Whether you are expected to send it on every call is your company’s decision, not the app’s.
If something is not recording, start with Android troubleshooting or desktop troubleshooting, and tell your owner — a recorder that is quietly off costs you reviewed calls, which is not in your interest either.
